• 3.1 million Engine Equivalents in April; approximately 95% of pre-Covid volume
• Second consecutive month above three million Engine Equivalent benchmark
• Strong underlying demand; orders for consumables at all-time record levels

[Stockholm, 7 May 2021] – Annualised series production in April finished at 3.1 million Engine Equivalents, corresponding to approximately 95% of the full-year pre-Covid production level of 3.3 million Engine Equivalents. The strong April production provided the second consecutive month above the three million Engine Equivalent benchmark, re-establishing the three million threshold as the new normal for SinterCast. While the April volume reinforces the recovery, the production was hindered by some semiconductor shortages and vehicle production stoppages on key high-volume programmes. The ability to remain above the three million Engine Equivalent threshold, despite these stoppages, underlines the strength of the market and exemplifies the pent-up demand for the near-term.

The strong market demand is also evidenced by the recent record levels of orders for the consumable Sampling Cup. The previous full-year record for Sampling Cup shipments was 197,900 units, corresponding to approximately 16,500 Sampling Cups per month. In comparison, 20,100 Sampling Cups were shipped in March and 24,800 were shipped in April. In perspective, the April volume represents the second highest month in our history, while March is the sixth highest.
